The Nissan Patrol (Japanese: 日産・パトロール, Hepburn: Nissan Patorōru) is a series of off-road vehicles and full-size SUVs manufactured by Nissan in Japan since 1951 and sold throughout the world. It is Nissan's longest running series of models.
The QX56 features a new 5.6-liter VK56VD V8 engine with direct injection and VVEL variable valve timing, also found in the Patrol, which is rated at 400 hp (298 kW) and 413 lb⋅ft (560 N⋅m) of torque. The more powerful engine helps give the QX56 an increased towing capacity of up to 8,500 lb (3,856 kg).
The Nissan ZD30 engine family is a 3.0-litre (2,953 cc) inline-four cylinder diesel engine with a bore and stroke of 96 mm × 102 mm (3.78 in × 4.02 in), that replaced the Nissan QD, BD and TD engines.
It is also used in the related Nissan Patrol/Armada. [8] It is a larger version of the VR30DDTT and replaces the 5.6-liter VK56 V8 engine in Nissan's largest automobiles. A bore and stroke of 86 mm × 100.2 mm (3.39 in × 3.94 in) makes for an overall displacement of 3.5 L (3,492 cc; 213.1 cu in).

It was the successor to the Nissan LD and SD six-cylinder engines and was joined by the six-cylinder Nissan TD engine. From 1997 onwards the turbocharged versions were fitted with electronic fuel injection.
