The World Migration Report 2024, the first-ever IOM report available in HTML, is the twelfth edition of the IOM's flagship World Migration Report publication series. It explores recent developments in migration and mobility globally and was launched by IOM Director General, Amy Pope on 7 May 2024 in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
The 2019 GHI report notes that climate change is making it ever more difficult to adequately and sustainably feed and nourish the human population. Climate change has direct and indirect negative impacts on food security and hunger through changes in food production and availability, access, quality, utilization, and stability of food systems.
The Global Food Security Index consists of a set of indices from 113 countries. It measures food security across most of the countries of the world. [ 1 ] It was first published in 2012, and is managed and updated annually by The Economist 's intelligence unit.
The IOM and WFP report also showed the ways in which food insecurity led to migration from El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras. Pointing out that there are millions of Central Americans living abroad (with over 80% in the United States), the report stated there is a positive correlation between food insecurity and migration from these countries.

In Ivory Coast, a developing country, food security is an issue.This is apparent under Ivory Coast's 2009 (the most recent statistics) food balance sheet. Cereals- including wheat, corn, rye, oats, etc.- are a large part of the Ivorian diet. 1,834,000 metric tons are imported, 1,167,000 metric tons are produced, while only 112,000 metric tons are exported.
