The units by which the yield of a crop is usually measured today are kilograms per hectare or bushels per acre. Long-term cereal yields in the United Kingdom were some 500 kg/ha in Medieval times, jumping to 2000 kg/ha in the Industrial Revolution, and jumping again to 8000 kg/ha in the Green Revolution . The Feekes scale is a system to identify the growth and development of cereal crops introduced by the Dutch agronomists Willem Feekes (1907-1979) in 1941. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] This scale is more widely used in the United States [ 3 ] than other similar and more descriptive [ 4 ] [ 5 ] scales such as the Zadoks scale or the BBCH scale .
When aerial seeding a cover crop, one must seed them at least 7 to 10 days before drilled cover crops. The reason for this is because the aerial seeding method is slower than that of the drilled method.
