This is a list of African countries by Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita based on purchasing power parity (PPP). GDP (PPP) per capita is given in international dollars. Note that the list excludes overseas departments Mayotte and Réunion (France), both west of Mauritius.

[1] The figures presented here do not take into account differences in the cost of living in different countries, and the results can vary greatly from one year to another based on fluctuations in the exchange rates of the country's currency . A country's gross domestic product (GDP) at purchasing power parity (PPP) per capita is the PPP value of all final goods and services produced within an economy in a given year, divided by the average (or mid-year) population for the same year. This is similar to nominal GDP per capita but adjusted for the cost of living in each country.
The following lists show the latest figures for GDP and GDP per capita. Most figures are 2024 data from the International Monetary Fund; figures for dependent territories (both GDP [1] [2] and GDP per capita [3]) are 2024 data from the United Nations. Figures from other sources and years are noted as such.
On the whole, PPP per capita figures are less spread than nominal GDP per capita figures. [5] The rankings of national economies over time have changed considerably; the economy of the United States surpassed the British Empire's output around 1916, [6] which in turn had surpassed the economy of the Qing dynasty in aggregate output decades earlier.

GDP per capita is often considered an indicator of a country's standard of living; [1] [2] however, this is inaccurate because GDP per capita is not a measure of personal income. Measures of personal income include average wage, real income, median income, disposable income and GNI per capita.
Note: The figures for the dependent territories are slightly outdated (e.g. the GDP per capita figure for the Cayman Islands is from 2004), therefore they may not be easily compared with more recent figures for sovereign states.
