AVX-512F has four new compare instructions. Like their XOP counterparts they use the immediate field to select between 8 different comparisons. Unlike their XOP inspiration, however, they save the result to a mask register and initially only support doubleword and quadword comparisons. The AVX-512BW extension provides the byte and word versions.
Only the core extension AVX-512F (AVX-512 Foundation) is required by all implementations, though all current implementations also support CD (conflict detection). All central processors with AVX-512 also support VL, DQ and BW. The ER, PF, 4VNNIW and 4FMAPS instruction set extensions are currently only implemented in Intel computing coprocessors.

The x86 instruction set has several times been extended with SIMD (Single instruction, multiple data) instruction set extensions. These extensions, starting from the MMX instruction set extension introduced with Pentium MMX in 1997, typically define sets of wide registers and instructions that subdivide these registers into fixed-size lanes and perform a computation for each lane in parallel.
The EVEX scheme is a 4-byte extension to the VEX scheme which supports the AVX-512 instruction set and allows addressing new 512-bit ZMM registers and new 64-bit operand mask registers. With Advanced Performance Extensions , the Extended EVEX prefix redefines the semantics of several payload bits.
