  2. ASME Y14.5 - Wikipedia

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ASME_Y14.5

ASME Y14.5 is a standard published by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) to establish rules, symbols, definitions, requirements, defaults, and recommended practices for stating and interpreting Geometric Dimensions and Tolerances (GD&T). [1]

  3. Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing - Wikipedia

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geometric_dimensioning_and...

Example of true position geometric control defined by basic dimensions and datum features. Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) is a system for defining and communicating engineering tolerances via a symbolic language on engineering drawings and computer-generated 3D models that describes a physical object's nominal geometry and the permissible variation thereof.

  4. Tolerance analysis - Wikipedia

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tolerance_analysis

The methods used to conduct a tolerance stackup depend somewhat upon the engineering dimensioning and tolerancing standards that are referenced in the engineering documentation, such as American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Y14.5, ASME Y14.41, or the relevant ISO dimensioning and tolerancing standards. Understanding the tolerances ...

  5. Datum reference - Wikipedia

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Datum_reference

In this case, the datum reference frame is A/B/C. A/B/C is shown at the end of feature control frame to show from where the measurement is taken. (See the ASME standard Y14.5M-2009 for more examples and material modifiers.) The engineer selects A/B/C based on the dimensional function of the part. The datums should be functional per the ASME ...

  6. ASME Y14.41 - Wikipedia

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ASME_Y14.41

ASME Y14.41 is a standard published by American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) which establishes requirements and reference documents applicable to the preparation and revision of digital product definition data (also known as model-based definition), which pertains to CAD software and those who use CAD software to create the product definition within the 3D model.

  7. Talk:Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing - Wikipedia

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Geometric...

The first table correctly referred to ANSI Y14.5M-1982 because ANSI had jurisdiction over it back in 1982. Since then ASME took over jurisdiction, therefore ASME Y14.5m-1994 & succeeding that ASME Y14.5-2009 (notice that they dropped the "M" which stood for metric). Why is the first table referring to the 2009 version?

  8. Projected tolerance zone - Wikipedia

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Projected_tolerance_zone

Projected tolerance zone symbol (used in a feature control frame) In geometric dimensioning and tolerancing , a projected tolerance zone is defined to predict the final dimensions and locations of features on a component or assembly subject to tolerance stack-up .

  9. Engineering drawing - Wikipedia

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Engineering_drawing

Coordinate dimensioning was the sole best option until the post-World War II era saw the development of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), which departs from the limitations of coordinate dimensioning (e.g., rectangular-only tolerance zones, tolerance stacking) to allow the most logical tolerancing of both geometry and dimensions ...
