Keith, After a TURP a Foley is inserted and kept in to flush out prostate tissue and blood clots that are not completely cleared by a flushing process right after the procedure. I had a 20fr double eyelet Foley in for 3 days after my TURP and it never got blocked.
If your prostate isn't too big, button TURP is a very reasonable choice if retro ejaculation isn't much of an issue for you. Good luck with the operation and let us know how you do. Jim. kenneth1955 bob120. Posted 7 years ago. Been through everything you have talked about in your post. I still did not give up.
My journey/story into having a TURP procedure is based on the following: I’ve had problems peeing for probably over 10 plus years. Weak flow, Pee coming out in a split stream. Having to push hard often when I pee. Getting up multiple times on certain nights, not every night but enough to make me fatigued and frustrated.
The most recent one was done three months ago. One was a GL, two were traditional TURP - so I've had some experience with the procedures and the post procedure period. My yearly sonogram in Nov, 2016 showed my prostate was 235g., compared to the 313g. when I had the TURP in June, 2015 and the 205g. in November 2015, when I started the dutasteride. I had expected the dutasteride to shrink the prostate but so far it has only slowed the growth rate. But so far, so good.
I had my TURP on June 1, 2016. Procedure went well, in OR less than 2 hours. Got pictures from my urologist with before and after surgery. Stayed overnight in hospital. Did not have much pain at all and had 3-way catheter for continius bladder irrigation. Did not bleed much. Next morning urologist came to see me and removed catheter.
scar tissue after TURP. Posted 8 years ago, 5 users are following. Looking for feedback. I had laser TURP on December 4, 2015. I believe the redulux laser was used for the procedure. About 2 months after the procedure I passed several large blood clots. I freaked out because one clot completely blocked my urine from coming out.
