Andrea Carla Michaels (née Eisenberg; born 1959) is an American crossword puzzle constructor and corporate naming consultant. She worked as a comedian and television writer after graduating from Harvard University in 1980, has played competitive chess and Scrabble, and appeared on Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune.
At age 16, Shortz began regularly contributing crossword puzzles to Dell publications. In the summer of 1985, at the Universal Cheerleading Summer Mascot Camp, he was voted by the other college mascots as the Best Of The Best, and received the Master Key to Spirit Trophy. JH was the winner of the first National Mascot contest ever held in 1986, based on the 1985–1986 season of performances.
