All Saints Church is in Church Lane, Marple, Greater Manchester, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building . [ 1 ] In the churchyard is the tower of an earlier church, which is also listed at Grade II. [ 2 ]
Marple featured in a 2010 BBC documentary on Dr Beeching which described the long-term effects of axing much of the UK railway network in the 1960s. The church was consecrated on 25 September 1825 as the daughter church of St Mary, Stockport. [6] At the time it was built it could seat 2,000. [7] The church was refurbished by T.H. Allen in 1881, and the chancel remodelled by Medland Taylor in 1890. The original seating has been replaced, but the galleries have survived. [6]
