Doctor Detroit is a 1983 American comedy film directed by Michael Pressman with writing by Bruce Jay Friedman, Carl Gottlieb, and Robert Boris. The film stars Dan Aykroyd , Howard Hesseman , Lynn Whitfield , Fran Drescher , and Donna Dixon , with a special appearance by James Brown .
Dan Aykroyd is one of the original SNL cast members, acting on the show from 1975-79. He left the program with fellow cast member John Belushi due to rampant drug problems on set.
Aykroyd was born on July 1, 1952, at Ottawa General Hospital in Ottawa, Ontario. [1] His father, Samuel Cuthbert Peter Hugh Aykroyd (1922–2020), a civil engineer, worked as a policy adviser to Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, [2] and his mother, Lorraine Hélène Marie (née Gougeon; 1918–2018), was a secretary.
Donna Lynn Dixon (born July 20, 1957) [1] [2] [3] is an American model, pageant winner and former actress. Her acting credits include two seasons as Sonny Lumet in the television show Bosom Buddies and roles in Doctor Detroit (where she met her future husband Dan Aykroyd) and Spies Like Us.
