"Up Out My Face" was written and produced by Mariah Carey, Tricky Stewart and The-Dream, for Carey's twelfth studio album, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel (2009). Carey later intended to re-release Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel as a remix album under the title Angels Advocate, which would have consisted of remixes of the standard songs with featured artists.
