I'm looking at buying a used Chevy equinox. What years should I avoid buying?
These seem to have been fixed by the 2013-2017 model years. Overall, the Equinox has quite good reliability whether the 2.4L 4-cylinder engine or the 3.6L V6. The 2.4L is not the fastest in the world, but it gets the job done. The 3.6L makes for a decently quick ride. These are good cars and also a bit roomier than the other small SUVs from ...
You can't measure size by number of rows. If you did you would end up with full size vehicles smaller than midsize vehicles. There are 3-row vehicles that are shorter than this "Compact" Equinox. The Kia Sorento has 3 rows and is the same length as this Equinox and the Subaru Outback, which has 2 rows.
Chevrolet continues to sell 250+ thousand of these every year. People buy them for a reason. If more features for less money is high on your list, then that's a good reason. Reply reply. Harmoniium. •. Yep, the 18+ equinox is a much nicer and has a much more reliable and solid drivetrain than it’s predecessors.
In my experience, the Escape has more power. But the Equinox has a better ride. The Equinox has a butter smooth ride. The only issues I’ve ever had with the Escape was that Goodyear did one oil change and supposedly over filled the car and claimed I had an oil leak.
However the legroom is decent and the interior isn’t horrendous or anything. I’d say it’ll be a decent car if you give it the right maintenance treatment. The price is fairly good. Although the i4 version goes 0-60 in 9.2 seconds. The one with the 2.0T is a bit faster but also has worse fuel economy.
The Equinox is fine. It’s not horrible but nothing really stand out in its segment. The answer is yes. The current Gen Equinox has good reliability, gets good MPG, is very quiet, has the best infotainment system in the segment, and provides quite good value for the money.
Never buy a car because it’s #1 selling without understanding why. IMO, look at the RAV4 or CR-V. If that’s too small, look at the new Honda Passport, new Toyota Venza, or CX-5 from Mazda. Good luck. Excellent vehicle, one of the best selling in the country. Highly recommend.
There is not a single thing that isn't better on the equinox, now tbf I'm ignoring longevity as company car is replaced at 50k-75k miles which is 1 to 2 years with how many miles I drive. RAV4 legion is beyond terrible, awd is not as good, adaptive cruise not as good, cameras not even close to as good (love the overhead cam on the equinox ...
Avoid all years and trims, they all had the same engine (save a rare few 4-bangers). Every mechanic knows they're full of problems. If you want to get one and roll the dice on reliability though, try to get a 2018+. The 2017s and below are painfully outdated bankruptcy-era GM, the Traverse was one of the last models to finally exit that era ...
