The Diocese of Bridgeport (Latin: Dioecesis Bridgeportensis) is a Latin Church ecclesiastical jurisdiction or diocese of the Catholic Church located in the southwestern part of the state of Connecticut in the United States. It is a suffragan diocese in the ecclesiastical province of the metropolitan Archdiocese of Hartford.
The 23 claims were settled in 2001, [2] which was one year after Egan left the Diocese of Bridgeport after being appointed Archbishop of New York. [3] Five priests were evicted from the ministry. [2] Two Diocese of Bridgeport priests, Kherian Ahearn and John Castaldo, were convicted on sex abuse charges respectively in 1993 and 2001. [4]
It became a cathedral when the Diocese of Bridgeport was established in 1953. The edifice went through a major $4 million renovation in 2003 and the capacity was expanded to 750 people. The project was finished in 2004 with new marble tiles, repainted ceilings, a new altar, and other projects.
