The Detroit People Mover (DPM) is a 2.94-mile (4.73 km) elevated automated people mover system in Detroit, Michigan, United States. [3] The system operates in a one-way loop on a single track encircling downtown Detroit, using Intermediate Capacity Transit System linear induction motor technology developed by the Urban Transportation Development Corporation.
Parkland was annexed by the city of Detroit in the 1920s. Along with the Parkland neighborhood the city also annexed additional land directly to the east, which was turned into Rouge Park (the city's largest inland park at 2 square miles (5 km 2)). The majority of the homes in Parkland were built between the 1920s and the 1950s.
In 1922, Albert Kahn designed the Park Avenue Building, located at the entrance to Park Avenue (but included in the neighboring Grand Circus Park Historic District). Other architects and artisans contributed hotels, apartment buildings, and office buildings to the structures on Park Avenue. [3] In 1923, the Park Avenue Association was formed. [2]
