Michael attended (what is now) Providence St. Mel School in East Garfield Park, Chicago from 1958 to 1962. His parents, Pasquale Spilotro, Sr. (who emigrated from Triggiano , Italy and arrived at Ellis Island in 1914) and Antoinette Spilotro (who was a domineering mother), owned Patsy's Restaurant.
