Kyaukphyu Township (Burmese: ကျောက်ဖြူမြို့နယ်, also spelt Kyaukpyu Township) is a township of Kyaukphyu District in the Rakhine State of Myanmar. The principal town is Kyaukphyu .
Kyaukphyu (Burmese: ကျောက်ဖြူမြို့ [tɕaʊʔpʰjù mjo̰]; also spelt Kyaukpyu) is a major town in Rakhine State, in western Myanmar. It is located on the north western corner of Yanbye Island on Combermere Bay , and is 250 miles (400 km) north-west of Yangon .
The island is the site of a deep seawater port being constructed as part of the Kyaukphyu Special Economic Zone. The island is home to four villages (including Ywama, Pyein, and Kyauktan), [1] 700 homes, and 3,000 people. [2]

The island is separated from the mainland by a narrow canal-like strait, which is only 150 metres (490 ft) wide in average. There is a bridge over the strait connecting the island with the continental shore. The highest point is Zikha Taung, a 984 feet (300 m) high mountain located near the western shore in the southern part of the island. [1]
