Lord/Sensei Garmadon (voiced by Mark Oliver, Kai Emmett as a child in season 9, Dean Petriw as a child in season 11) is Lloyd's father, Wu's older brother, Misako's husband, and older son of the First Spinjitzu Master. Garmadon is the main antagonist for the pilot episodes, and a secondary antagonist for the first two seasons.
The pilot episodes introduce five of the show's six main teenage ninja characters named Kai, Cole, Jay, Zane and Nya and their wise master, Sensei Wu that would remain the central characters of the series. The storyline focuses on the ninja team's efforts to stop the villainous Lord Garmadon from obtaining the four Golden Weapons of Spinjitzu. [5]
The ninja, Sensei Wu, Nya and Dareth are teachers at Darkley's (now Sensei Wu's Academy) and Lloyd travels around Ninjago. The Overlord however reemerges, having survived in the Digiverse and takes over all technology. Cyrus Borg gives the ninja the Techno-Blades and new suits, before both him and Sensei Wu are captured.
The series began with the ninja team being formed and trained by their ancient master Sensei Wu in the fictional martial art of "Spinjitzu", which is the main fighting method depicted in the show. [5] The ninjas' base is a flying junk ship named "Destiny's Bounty", which has varied in design over the course of the series. [6]
The storyline follows the Hands of Time as they retrieve four time blades scattered across Ninjago and involves the main ninja characters Kai and Nya following the Time Twins back through time. The season ends with a cliffhanger that involves Sensei Wu being lost in time, which was not resolved until the release of Sons of Garmadon. [1]
Lord Garmadon uses his Mega Weapon to create a time portal, hoping to prevent the formation of the Ninja team. The Ninja follow him as he goes back in time to the day Kai met Sensei Wu. After failing to alter the timeline by stopping Nya's kidnapping, Garmadon teams up with his past self and amboushes the past Kai in the Fire Temple.
