Kabba which was used as the administrative and military base of the Nupe expedition, became the capital of the Kabba province of the Northern region and remains the largest and most important town of the Okun people. Despite the similarities pointed out, there are yet identifiable differences in the culture of the various Okun subgroups.
The people of Kabba/Bunu generally speak Okun which is the language of the Yoruba-speaking community in Kogi State. However, there is a little difference in the way the language is spoken within the Local Government Area.
Kabba is the headquarters of the Kabba/Bunnu local government area of Kogi state and the current Chairman of Kabba/Bunu Local Government is Hon.E. O. Olorunleke Moses. Kabba has a tripodal traditional leadership called: Obaro, Obadofin and Obajemu, with the Obaro who is also the chairman of the Okun traditional council as head.

Chief S. A. Ajayi // ⓘ OFR (2 December 1910 – 11 May 1994) was a Nigerian statesman who played an active role in the negotiations that led to Nigeria's independence. He was a pioneer politician of Okun land in the old Kabba province (in the present day Kogi State), who represented the people of Kabba Division in the Northern region house of Assembly.
