Anberlin is an American alternative rock band formed in Winter Haven, Florida, in 2002. Since the beginning of 2007, the band consists of lead vocalist Stephen Christian , guitarists Joseph Milligan and Christian McAlhaney, bassist Deon Rexroat, and drummer Nathan Young.
Anberlin's first studio album, Blueprints for the Black Market (2003), was the first of three to be released on Tooth & Nail Records. The album's lead single "Readyfuels" spurred the album's sales upwards of 60,000 copies, but the album failed to feature on any national charts.
In late 2006, the band started previewing content for the album in various ways. The song "Godspeed" was released as a single on December 28, 2006. The band started playing "Hello Alone" at concerts under its working title, "The Lesser Thans." Anberlin also posted individual song previews on MySpace and PureVolume.
Following the signing of Anberlin, Christian wrote many of the songs on each of the band's albums. "Feel Good Drag" (originally released as "The Feel Good Drag") is a song by American alternative rock band Anberlin. The song originally appeared on the band's second album Never Take Friendship Personal and was re-recorded for their fourth album, New Surrender.
The band was unsure which producer to select for the album, they were however approached by O'Brien. O'Brien had followed Anberlin's career after being introduced to their music by his daughter.
