From 1842 until 1853, the parish did not have a church and often celebrated Mass in homes and in the state capitol. The first frame church building was constructed in 1848. It measured 20 by 24 feet (6.1 by 7.3 m), but was sufficient size for the congregation at that time. [4]
Trinity's first building was on 4th Street between Wells and Kilbourn starting in 1847. In 1851 they built a larger frame church at 4th and Wells.
