Re: Converting Propane LB's into Propane Gallons. actually at 100lbs tank of LP will be 22.9 gal. Thats what i belive because thats what this tank lists. Go to tractorsupply and click on 100 lbs tanks and it will show you that it holds 22.9 gallons. so if it 22.9 gal = 100 lbs than it would be .229 gallons per pound.
The American Gas Association says 91,600. 1 gallon of Propane ~= 4.23 lbs ~= 91500 Btus. 1 lbs of Propane ~=22000 Btus. 20 lb tank of propane holds approx 4 gallons of propane (approx 366000 BTUs ...
US gallons of diesel to weight in lbs. Water weighs 8.33 lb/gal, and a typical specific gravity for diesel (weight relative to water) is 0.84, so about 7 lb/gal. However densities of petroleum products vary lot to lot. If you want any precision, you need to measure density with a hydrometer and use the value for that particular lot. Flag.
Re: help please convert pounds tp gallons. Originally posted by Unregistered. 1 gallon of water weighs 8.3 lbs. For example, if you had 2000 lbs of water, you would have 16600 gallons. 2000 X 8.3 = 16600. It'd actually be 2000/8.33, or about 240 US gal. Flag.
This converts to about 4.36 pounds per US gallon. You need roughly 500 lb and 1100 lb tanks. In other countries, LPG may be a seasonally adjusted mix of propane and butane to lower the vapor pressure. As butane is heavier, density may range from 0.54 - 0.57 kg/L depending on the mix. Flag.

Re: Gal Propane cylinder to lbs of gas. 20 lb propane tank here where I live is .79 per pound to fill . that is $15.80 plus 6% tax which equals $16.75 At 4.25 lbs per gallon that = 4.7 Gallons in a 20 lb bottle. $3.564 per gallon. Which is almost the same price as gasoline where I live.
Re: 55.8 Gallons of Propane to Pounds of Propane Use the following conversions : 55.8 x 3.785 = 211.20 liters .now devide 211.20 to .4538 = 465.40 Lbs. ( US Gallons x 3.785 = Liters & liters to devide with .4538 you get Lbs)
1 gallon of propane is equivalent to approximately 3.785 liters of propane. 1 US gallon is equivalent to 3.78541 liters. Similarly 1 liter is equivalent to 0.264172 US gallon. This is the ...

Re: propane to btu Back to the original question, According to my chart on approximate properties of LP-gas (commercial propane) 1 gal. of liquid propane at 60 degrees F weighs 4.20 lb. The latent heat needed of vaporization is 184 Btu / lb or 773 Btu / gal. That is how much heat the tank will absorb to convert the liquid to a vapor.
