A post office in LeRoy has been in operation since 1871, with James E. Bevins serving as postmaster from 1871 to 1895. [4] In 1871 S.L. Kimball, M. Westfall and James Bevins settled in the area, [5] the village of LeRoy was incorporated by an act of Congress on February 2, 1873. [6]

Leroy Township is located in western Calhoun County, bordered by the city of Battle Creek to the north. Kalamazoo County is to the west. Unincorporated communities within the township include Pine Creek, East Leroy, Joppa, West Leroy, Morgan Corners, and Sonoma.

LeRoy was founded in 1855. It was named after the city of Le Roy, Illinois. [4] The first post office in LeRoy (a name also spelled historically as Leroy) was established in 1856. [5] During the Civil War the town had a military post from 1861 to 1864.
