The Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) is the governing body of athletic programs for junior and senior high schools in the U.S. state of Alabama. It conducts state championship competitions in all AHSAA-sanctioned sports.
Long Island City High School has over a dozen AP Classes, Opera and Orchestra, Dance and Theater, Visual Arts, and over eight Foreign Languages. It also has over 20 multicultural and interdisciplinary clubs, over 20 sports teams and a growing ARISTA (National Honor Society) chapter. [ 4 ]

Nicknamed "Blinky", he attended P.S. 4 elementary school and graduated from Long Island City High School in 1950. A 1954 graduate of Bowling Green State University, he was voted to the "All-Ohio Team" and received honorable mention as a basketball All-American. [citation needed] He served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps from 1954 to 1956.
Sears began his high school career at Muscle Shoals High School in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. In February 2019, he recorded 31 points, 12 rebounds and five assists in a 64–52 win over Bessemer City High School in the Class 6A Northwest Regional championship. [1] As a junior, he led the team to the Class 6A state semifinal.
