Hubbard Park, located in the Hanging Hills of Connecticut, is a wooded, mountainous park located just outside the city center of Meriden, Connecticut.It comprises approximately 1,800 acres (7.3 km 2) of carefully kept woodlands, streams, dramatic cliff faces, flower gardens, and the James Barry bandshell and picnic spots, as well as its showpiece, Mirror Lake.
The Farmington Canal-New Haven and Northampton Canal, Hubbard Park, and the Marion Historic District extend into other communities in Hartford County and appear in both lists. Twenty-five early houses in Southington were covered in a Multiple Property Submission study in 1988, and are indicated by asterisks (*) here.
The Hanging Hills are a popular outdoor recreation resource. Hubbard Park features a bandshell and flower gardens and is the site of a variety of local festivals and concerts, most notably the spring Daffodil Festival. [9] A park road leads to Castle Craig Tower and is open from April through October from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Rugged and scenic, the peak rises steeply above the city of Meriden 600 feet (183 m) below and is characterized by its vertical cliffs and sweeping views of southern Connecticut and Long Island Sound. A small stone observation tower known as Castle Craig stands on the summit. East Peak is located within the 1,800-acre (7.3 km 2) Hubbard Park.
