The South Sydney Rabbitohs celebrated its centenary year during 2008. The club released a centenary emblem to commemorate the occasion. To also coincide with the centenary year, Souths opted to alter the logo by removing the red and green oval from the emblem for a solid white rabbit with the words South Sydney Rabbitohs set in uppercase type.

George Gilchrist McGowan (1890–1970) was a pioneer rugby league footballer in the New South Wales Rugby League. McGowan, a half-back, joined Easts Juniors in 1911 as a 20-year-old. He played Presidents Cup with Easts in 1913 and played first grade with Eastern Suburbs in the 1915 season.
Andrews made his first grade debut for South Sydney against Parramatta in round 3 of the 1984 season at Redfern Oval. Andrews played in both of South Sydney's finals games in that season. Andrews played for Souths in their subsequent finals campaigns in 1986, 1987 and 1989, the latter of which is when the club claimed the minor premiership.
The 2024 South Sydney Rabbitohs season is the 115th in the history of the club. Coached by Ben Hornby and captained by Cameron Murray , they compete in the National Rugby League 's 2024 Telstra Premiership .
