The Commission on Higher Education (CHED; Filipino: Komisyon sa Mas Mataas na Edukasyon or Komisyon sa Lalong Mataas na Edukasyon) [2] is a government agency under the Office of the President of the Philippines. The Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines is a non-profit and non-stock accreditation organization in the Philippines.. The agency has 111 institutional members and, in the 20 years since its inception in 2012, has provided accreditation for almost 3000 programs.
The PRC and CHED sometimes publish reports on these results. In 2009, CHED executive director Julito Vitriolo said that they are in the process of establishing appropriate guidelines to rank Philippine universities and colleges for each specific academic program or discipline. [29] As of June 2015, such rankings do not exist yet.
In a memorandum order issued April 13, 2016, the university was granted the "Autonomous Status" by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). [ 3 ] [ 18 ] In the same year, CHED awarded Center of Excellence status to three of its programs, namely: Information Technology, Criminology, and Teacher Education.
