Animal welfare organizations are concerned with the health, safety and psychological wellness of individual animals. [3] By 1996, over 1000 NGO's were granted consultative status, and by the year 2000, there were 2050. [4] As of August 2021, there are a total of 5,591 organizations in consultative status with ECOSOC.
