Examples of computer clip art, from Openclipart. Clip art (also clipart, clip-art) is a type of graphic art. Pieces are pre-made images used to illustrate any medium. Today, clip art is used extensively and comes in many forms, both electronic and printed. However, most clip art today is created, distributed, and used in a digital form.
Hand-coloured photographs sometimes include the combined use of dyes, water-colours, oils, and other pigments to create varying effects on the printed image. Regardless of which medium is used, the main tools to apply colour are the brush and fingertip. Often the dabbing finger is covered to ensure that no fingerprints are left on the image.
In art, watermedia is the general term for media that are distinguished from oil or other media by being diluted with water when used. [1] Watermedia include watercolors, gouache and acrylic, amongst others. It is sometimes combined with other media, commonly collage. [2]
In computing terminology, black-and-white is sometimes used to refer to a binary image consisting solely of pure black pixels and pure white ones; what would normally be called a black-and-white image, that is, an image containing shades of gray, is referred to in this context as grayscale. [2]
Before the development of photography and of halftones, line art was the standard format for illustrations to be used in print publications, using black ink on white paper. Using either stippling or hatching, shades of gray could also be simulated.
The same water in a smaller bucket looks only slightly cyan, [1] and observing the water at close range makes it appear colorless to the naked eye. The intrinsic color of liquid water may be demonstrated by looking at a white light source through a long pipe that is filled with purified water and closed at both ends with a transparent window.
In interior design, a wash or color wash of paint on a wall can be used to create a textured effect as a faux finish. [2] In ceramics, a wash is typically a coloring oxide thinned with water applied to the piece to achieve an effect similar to a glaze. [3] Digital image creation software can have features that simulate the painting technique. [4]
In almost all thermal power stations, water is used as the working fluid (used in a closed-loop between boiler, steam turbine, and condenser), and the coolant (used to exchange the waste heat to a water body or carry it away by evaporation in a cooling tower). In the United States, cooling power plants is the largest use of water. [152]
