Tour of Duty is an American military drama television series based on events in the Vietnam War, broadcast on CBS. The series ran for three seasons, from September 24, 1987, to April 28, 1990, for a total of 58 one-hour episodes. The show was created by Steve Duncan and L. Travis Clark and produced by Zev Braun. After Firebase Ladybird suffers heavy casualties, Sergeant Anderson (Terence Knox) goes to recruit new soldiers to replace men he lost.He selects the best from a group of new recruits and meets, for the first time, their new platoon leader, Second Lieutenant Goldman (Stephen Caffrey).
Anderson is not extending his tour and uses his saved up free time to return to the US earlier to go see his daughter Katie for the first time in two years. The squads' first assignment is to snatch a VC tax collector. Goldman, mourning the loss of Alex Devlin, is distracted, and Johnson is trying to adjust to his role as the new "sarge".
