Townsend Historic District is a national historic district located at Townsend, New Castle County, Delaware. It encompasses 216 contributing buildings and 5 contributing structures in the crossroads and railroad village of Townsend.
Townsend is a town in New Castle County, Delaware, United States. The population was 2,049 at the 2010 census , an increase of 492.2% from 2000. [ 3 ] The center of population of Delaware is located in Townsend.

William S. Townsend was a wealthy farmer and merchant in the area. The oldest section of the house was built around 1820 by a member of the Ludlam family.
