Makima (Japanese: マキマ, Hepburn: Makima) is a fictional character from Tatsuki Fujimoto's manga series Chainsaw Man.She is the main antagonist of Part 1, the "Public Safety Saga", and is the caretaker of main character Denji, promising him food and shelter if he comes under her care and threatening him with death otherwise.
A hybrid contracted with the Flamethrower Devil, he was first seen as part of Makima's Special Division 5 group of brainwashed hybrids in order to fight Pochita. Following Makima's defeat, he becomes the second-in-command of the Chainsaw Man Church and Fami's right-hand man, with the goal of saving humankind by slaying the Death Devil.
Makima forces the trio to participate; she reveals the Gun Devil has been captured and divided among the major powers, and the fight will be to obtain a larger portion for Japan. The Future Devil shows Aki the near future: both he and Power will be killed by Denji; he meets with Makima and begs for more strength through another Devil contract.
Makima defeats the Darkness Devil before killing Quanxi and Santa Claus and rescuing the Division. After Denji recovers, Makima reveals the Gun Devil is actually a geopolitical asset, with many factions controlling pieces of it. Makima almost defeats the Gun Devil, though Aki is killed in the process, and his body is taken as the Gun Fiend.
Denji helps her recover, but Aki, possessed by the Gun Devil, attacks them. In the ensuing battle, Denji kills Aki, devastating both him and Power. Later, Power was shot by Makima in front of Denji, to break his spirit. Power revives as the Blood Devil from Denji's blood at Pochita's request to save Denji, but is fatally wounded by Makima again.

Denji and Makima arrive at the Devil Hunters Headquarters in Tokyo after eating in the rest area. Denji wishes to team up with Makima, but she introduces him to Aki Hayakawa, a Public Safety Devil Hunter who takes Denji out on patrol. Aki and Denji get into a fight during the patrol, with Aki telling Denji he should quit for his own safety.
