The Iowa State Fair is an annual state fair held in Des Moines, Iowa, every August. It began in 1854 and has been held on the Iowa State Fairgrounds since 1886. It is based in the state capital Des Moines, Iowa over an 11 day period in August.
The Iowa State Fair was held in a different community every two years after it was first established. The first fair was held in Fairfield in 1854. The other towns that hosted the fair included Muscatine, Oskaloosa, Iowa City, Dubuque, Burlington, Clinton, Keokuk and Cedar Rapids. [2] The state fair moved to Des Moines permanently in 1878.
Janesville Public Library. The Janesville Public Library was created in 1962 with the inspiration of Clark Corwin with help from Hattie Zo Shoesmith and Margaret Theis. The library started as an all volunteer and all donated materials library in a room located in the city hall. Arlene Warm volunteered her services as a librarian.

William J. Riley Sr. (October 7, 1920 [1] – December 15, 2006) was an American entertainer known as "Mr. State Fair" in Iowa. Riley was born in Iowa Falls, Iowa.His father died when he was 18 months old, and Bill and his brother were raised by their mother through the Great Depression.
The Janesville Public Library in Janesville, Wisconsin is a large Neoclassical-styled structure built in 1902. It was one of the first Carnegie libraries in the state, while also supported by local businessman F.S. Eldred. In 1981 the building was added to the National Register of Historic Places. [2] [3]
