Non-free but fair use book covers belong on Wikipedia, and can be found in Category:Non-free images of book covers. All non-free content should comply with Wikipedia's non-free content criteria policy. First edition covers are preferred.

This is a project to replace modern book covers used to illustrate articles about books in the public domain.These images are not really acceptable under the "replaceable" clause of our fair use policy, [1] since the books' original covers, title pages, etc. would be free.
If an article overall has so many images that they lengthen the page beyond the length of the text itself, you can use a gallery; or you can create a page or category combining all of them at Wikimedia Commons and use a relevant template ({}, {{Commons category}}, {{Commons-inline}} or {{Commons category-inline}}) to link to it instead, so that ...
If using an image of the book cover art, try to select the cover of the book's first edition. If using an image of the author, try to select a photo dated around the time of the book's publication. WikiProject Books/Images provides more detailed guidelines and examples.
