Clara Brown, also known as John G. Alden Design No. 872, is a historic racing sloop located at Buffalo in Erie County, New York. It was designed by John G. Alden and built by Goudy & Stevens Shipyard in Boothbay, Maine. It was designed in 1950 and launched in 1952.

Local racing enthusiasts formed the Bridgehampton Road Races Corporation in 1953 to finance the construction of a permanent race circuit in the area. [2] The corporation purchased a 550-acre (2.2 km 2 ) parcel known as Noyack Hills in 1956, and constructed a 2.850 km (1.771 mi), 13-turn road course.
