Nguyễn Đình Chiểu was born in the southern province of Gia Định, the location of modern Saigon.He was of gentry parentage; his father was a native of Thừa Thiên–Huế, near Huế; but, during his service to the imperial government of Emperor Gia Long, he was posted south to serve under Lê Văn Duyệt, the governor of the south.
Tản Viên Sơn Thánh (Chữ Hán: 傘圓山聖, 304 BCE - ?), or Sơn Tinh (山精) is one of The Four Immortals in traditional Vietnamese mythology. He is the god of Ba Vì mountain range [ 2 ] and figures also in the romance of Sơn Tinh - Thủy Tinh ("the God of the Mountain and the God of the Water").

The Trịnh–Nguyễn Civil War (Vietnamese: Trịnh-Nguyễn phân tranh; chữ Hán: 鄭阮紛爭, lit.Trịnh–Nguyễn contention) was a 17th and 18th-century lengthy civil war waged between the two ruling families in Vietnam, the Trịnh lords of Đàng Ngoài and the Nguyễn lords of Đàng Trong, centered in today's Central Vietnam. In July 1838, a demoted governor attempting to win back his place did so successfully by capturing the priest Father Dang Dinh Vien in Yen Dung, Bac Ninh province. (Vien was executed). In 1839, the same official captured two more priests: Father Dinh Viet Du and Father Nguyen Van Xuyen (also both executed).
On either side of the rear building are square buildings which hold a drum and a bronze bell. The drum is 2.01 metres (6 ft 7 in) wide, 2.65 metres (8 ft 8 in) high, has a volume of 10 m 3 and weighs 700 kilograms (1,500 lb). The bell was cast in 2000, with dimensions of 2.1 by 0.99 metres (6 ft 11 in by 3 ft 3 in).
