As an employee of FEWS-NET, I can tell you the following: We are offically the Famine Early Warning System, however typically we are called FEWS-NET or inappropriately FEWS. Further, the Central American countries that are part of our monitoring are not part of FEWS-NET, but something else: Mesoamerican Food Security Early Warning System, or MFEWS.
