Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (IATA: CAN, ICAO: ZGGG) is an international airport serving Guangzhou, Guangdong, China. The airport codes were inherited from the former Baiyun Airport , and the IATA code is derived from Guangzhou's historical romanization Canton .
The construction work of the airport started in 2022. [2] It will replace the existing Foshan Shadi Airport, and operate as another airport for Guangzhou and Foshan with the existing Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport continuing to operate. The planned Guangzhou–Zhanjiang high-speed railway will have an intermediate stop at the airport. [3]
