Luffy and Zoro perform a move that acts similar to a cannon and blasts a hole through the wall of the tidal wave ahead of them, opening up a channel for them to pass through. They encounter a kraken, and Caribou provides Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji with the Flutter Kick Coating suits, enabling them to fight it. The trio defeats the kraken using their new techniques, but the crew is sucked into the current. Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji are separated from the group. The Straw Hats officially enter a dangerous part of the sea.
The Straw Hats arrived at Zou to reunite with Sanji and the others, only to discover Sanji has been swept up in a personal conflict and that Zou has been under siege by the Beasts Pirates. "Marine Rookie" deals with Luffy robbing a marine base for food after running out of it on the ship. Only a single piece of theme music is used for this season.
By that time, Luffy makes it to Doberman's ship and proceeds to fight Lucci as Vice Admiral Onigumo orders the ships to redirect their cannons to the gradually damaged vessel. In the underwater passageway, Zoro, Sanji and Usopp catch up to Nami and the others. The water flooding the passage behind them washes them back down the tunnel.
