The Jacksonville Public Library is the public library system of Jacksonville, Florida, United States. It primarily serves Jacksonville and Duval County merged areas, and is also used by the neighboring Baker, Nassau, Clay, and St. Johns counties. It is one of the largest library systems in Florida, with a collection of over three million items.

Currently the Library has 300 public workstations, 17 group study rooms, 37 carrels, 21 faculty, 24 support staff, over 1.4 million microform units, over 800 videos, 13,000 electronic journals, over 52,000 electronic books, and over 800,000 volumes. Electronic resources are available to community users off campus.
Construction of the library began in 1898 and it was opened in 1900. [2] In 1900 the library commissioned the first mural of F. Luis Mora , a prominent Hispanic American artist. The library was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979, [ 1 ] and included in the Lynn Common Historic District in 1992.

Haydon Burns Library in Jacksonville, ca. 1968 Colorful mural. When built in 1965 at a cost of $3.7 million, it was considered state of the art. The 126,000 sq ft (11,700 m 2), three-story building was designed by local architect Taylor Hardwick, who designed dozens of other buildings in Jacksonville starting in the mid-1950s including the Skinner Dairy chain and Friendship Fountain and Park.
In 1990, following a shortage of funds within the public library system, the city of Lynn Haven took over responsibility of the library, and it is no longer part of the Northwest Regional Library System. The library's name changed from the McMullin Library to the Lynn Haven Public Library to honor the change in ownership.
