Bigeminy is a cardiac arrhythmia in which there is a single ectopic beat, or irregular heartbeat, following each regular heartbeat. Most often this is due to ectopic beats occurring so frequently that there is one after each sinus beat , or normal heartbeat.

Depending whether there are one, two, or three normal (sinus) beats between each PACs, the rhythm is called atrial bigeminy, trigeminy, or quadrigeminy. If three or more consecutive PACs occur in a row and at a frequency of 100 or more beats per minute, it may be called atrial tachycardia .
The presentation and symptoms a patient can present with are varied and often dependent on the underlying cause of the junctional rhythm. Patient's can be asymptomatic for example, or experience difficulty breathing and chest pain if they have underlying congestive heart failure.
