Valrico Subdivision's junction with the Achan Subdivision in Mulberry, Florida The Seaboard Air Line Railroad built the segment of the line from Welcome Junction to Nichols around 1905. It was built as an extension of the Plant City, Arcadia, and Gulf Railroad (which is today the Plant City Subdivision), which Seaboard had bought earlier that year.
For most of its length south of Florida State Road 60 (SR 60) in Mulberry, SR 37 is a lonely stretch of road with oak hammocks and occasional phosphate mines.
