The Ohio State Highway Patrol said 18 – including 15 students and the bus driver – were taken to hospitals. The school district said 20 of its students were taken to hospitals.
The driver of an eastbound Honda Odyssey, 36-year old Hermanio Joseph, crossed the centerline on the two-lane road, striking the driver side of the bus. The van scraped along the side of the bus until it made contact with the rear wheel, which caused the axle to break. This caused the bus to overturn into a culvert, just north of the impact. [1]
The first high school, located on Market Street, is now Boardman Center Intermediate School. In 1969, the new high school was built on Glenwood Avenue. [5] In 2000, a new performing arts center was added on by donation. As of the 2021-2022 school year, the school principal is Mark Zura.
