SS Normandie was a French ocean liner built in Saint-Nazaire, France, for the French Line Compagnie Générale Transatlantique (CGT). She entered service in 1935 as the largest and fastest passenger ship afloat, crossing the Atlantic in a record 4.14 days, and remains the most powerful steam turbo-electric-propelled passenger ship ever built.

Built to house the ocean liner SS Normandie, this dock was the largest dry dock in the world when it was completed in 1932. [4]

Vladimir Yourkevitch (Russian: Владимир Иванович Юркевич, also spelled Yourkevitch, 1885 in Moscow – December 13, 1964) was a Russian Naval engineer, and a designer of the Ocean Liner SS Normandie. He worked in Russia, France, and the United States.
