Designated in 1941, it was the first farm-to-market road established in Texas, at the request of local industry for a paved road. The 18.6-mile (29.9 km) road provides access to rural areas of East Texas from US 96.
Farm to Market Road 235 (FM 235) is located in Cherokee County. It runs from SH 110 in New Summerfield to SH 204 near Reklaw. FM 235 was designated on May 23, 1951, running 4.7 miles (7.6 km) from SH 110 eastward. The route was extended on November 20, 1951, to its current length.
On January 21, 1956, the route was extended northward to SH 95 in Taylor, and the eastern leg from Rice's Crossing to SH 95 was redesignated as FM 1660, but was not effective until the 1957 travel map was released. [8] On October 31, 1957, a southern extension from Manor to SH 71 was added.

Recreational Road 11 connects FM 1929 to a recreational area on the O.H. Ivie Reservoir. The highway begins at an intersection with FM 1929, south of the O. H. Ivie Reservoir, as a two-lane, paved road.
