Abrams Creek is a creek in Blount County, Tennessee. Its headwaters are in Cades Cove , and it is a tributary of the Little Tennessee River . [ 6 ] [ 7 ] It is named after the Chilhowee Cherokee chief Old Abraham ("Abram"). [ 7 ]
Abrams Creek, the longest stream located entirely within the park, is named for Old Abraham of Chilhowee. [10] A campground and ranger station is located along the creek a few miles upstream from Chilhowee.
A campground and ranger station are now situated at the confluence of Kingfisher Creek and Abrams Creek. Several of the old roads, including the Cooper Road to Cades Cove, the Cane Creek Road to Walland, and the cattle drovers' paths to Gregory Bald, were converted into hiking trails. [10]
The trail continues beyond the waterfall for 1.7 miles (2.7 km) to connect with Little Bottoms Trail and backcountry campsite 17. A total hike of 4.9 miles (7.9 km) will lead to the trail head at Abrams Creek campground. This is a much more difficult trail than the section from Cades Cove.
The Abrams Falls Trail is an American hiking trail, in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park of Blount County, Tennessee.The trail runs parallel to Abrams Creek and passes Abrams Falls, one of the most voluminous waterfalls in the national park, before terminating at a junction with the Hatcher and Hannah Mountain trails.
