The Bank Street–Old Decatur Historic District is a historic district in Decatur, Alabama. The district encompasses the original commercial and residential portion of Decatur along the Tennessee River. In 1832, Decatur was selected over the larger Huntsville as the site of the northern branch of the state bank.
The second wave of detailed restoration was undertaken in the years of 1995-1996 and was led by noted preservation architect, Harvie Jones. Funding was provided by the Alabama Historical Commission, the City of Decatur, and the Old Bank Board of Directors. The City of Decatur commemorated the bank's 175th anniversary in 2008.

Alabama National took over First American in 1997, [2] when First American had $223 million in assets and Alabama National had $929 million, ranking sixth in Alabama. Also in 1997, Alabama National entered Florida by opening Citizens & Peoples Bank in Escambia County. In 1998, Alabama National added two more Florida banks and entered Georgia.
Renasant began as The Peoples Bank and Trust Company in 1904. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s the bank grew by acquiring small local banks in Mississippi. In 2005, it acquired Heritage Bank of Decatur, Alabama , [ 6 ] and Renasant Bancshares of Memphis, Tennessee and assumed the new Renasant Bank moniker.
