Ranganayaki (transl. The Heroine of the Stage ) is a 1981 Indian Kannada language film directed by Puttanna Kanagal starring Aarathi , Ambareesh , Ramakrishna , Ashok , Rajanand. The film is based on the novel of the same name by Ashwattha.

Ranganayaki is a 2019 Indian Kannada drama film written and directed by Dayal Padmanabhan. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] The film was produced by S. V. Narayan under his banner S.V. Entertainment. It features Aditi Prabhudeva [ 3 ] and MG Srinivas along with Trivikram, who is making his debut in the lead roles.
Ranganayaki Rajagopalan (3 May 1932 – 20 September 2018) [1] was an award-winning veena instrumentalist, recipient of the Kalaimamani and winner of a Presidential Award for Carnatic Instrumental Music.
There also exists a shrine for Ranganayaki Tayar, facing the east. It is a double prakaram (outer courtyard) temple. The Garuda shrine faces the deity. The temple has lot of inscriptions from the Chola and later Pandyas, indicating generous contributions to the temple. [1]
Ashok was born to V. Lakshmi Narasimhaiah, a police inspector and Puttamma in Anekal. [3] From a young age, he aspired to become a film star. After completing his degree, he applied to the National School of Drama (NSD), the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, and the Madras Film Institute.
One of his wives was Alamelamma, a staunch devotee of Ranganayaki, the consort of Lord Ranganatha, the presiding deity of the famous Adi-Ranga temple in the island fortress of Srirangapatna. Alamelamma had a large amount of jewellery, including a fine nose ring studded with a large pearl. As a widow, customs forbade jewellery on her.
Ranganayaki Ammal was a distinguished Mridangam player. [1] Despite her significant contributions to music, Ranganayaki remained largely unnoticed, with the exception of being honored with the prestigious Kalaimamani award, the highest civilian award presented by the state of Tamil Nadu. Tragically, she died on 15 August 1998.
