According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 118.33 square miles (306.47 km 2), of which 112.38 square miles (291.06 km 2) is land and 5.95 square miles (15.4 km 2) (5.02%) water. Thompsonville is a village in Benzie County in the U.S. state of Michigan.The village had a population of 451 at the 2020 census, up from 441 at the 2010 census.The village lies immediately north of the Manistee County line, and is divided between Colfax and Weldon townships.

The Michigan State Highway Department (MSHD) designated M-149 along a gravel road in late 1930; the highway provided access from US 2 northerly to Palms Book State Park. [2] [3] A second highway, the first creation of M-125, was formed later in 1931 along another gravel road to connect US 2 southerly with the Thompson State Fish Hatchery.
As of the census [6] of 2010, there were 508 people, 218 households, and 154 families living in the village. The population density was 540.4 inhabitants per square mile (208.6/km 2).
