If you're doing real rendering, you'll want PBR textures. Sketchup texture club has the deepest library, and if you want high quality, their annual fee is cheap and worth it. Poliigon also has some free textures, vizpark had some good free ones although most are paid. Textures.com is good. Freepbr has good textures, as does polyhaven.

Modeling: If you want a good terrain Artisan2 is a great extension (the grading tool is freaking beautiful), use whatever tool to make a quad mesh that's larger than the area you need so you don't have to worry about the edges, you can trim it after you're done w/ the sketchup native drape tool.
I use cedar shake and vinyl cedar a lot in sketchup but can never find a good quality one. I see certainteed and nucedar are both really low quality images. anything sketchup texture club has to offer doesn't even look close to real. Look on the warehouse. Look for cedar roof or shingles. Textures. Are they any better textures/materials that can be downloaded and added? Using 2017, there are only a few wood textures and none of them look that great. Sketchup texture club has some decent textures for free, pro access is like $12 for a year. You will want to render a couple passes to composite together.. beauty(all the colors textures..etc and An Ambient Occlusion pass, which is the equivilent of a white model pass.
I was refreshing my SketchUp skills and ran into an obstacle. I have a wooden texture that I rotated but I needed to add a custom image texture on top. I can see both as I wanted the custom image texture on top of the wood texture. Unfortunately, the wooden texture has turned back to its original position and isn't rotated as I changed it to be.
