Seton opened in 2009 with 30 Ninth graders and 11 tenth graders. It was the first Catholic high school in southwest Washington in 43 years. In Seton's second year, they had 84 students in three classes, Freshmen, Sophomore, and Junior. The third year, they had 119, with Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors attending. [1]

Originally, the current middle school was the town's high school, but in the district's late 1960s expansion, the current high school was built. Only one high school exists in the Washington Court House City School District. Washington Senior High has approximately 50 staff members and approximately 600 students in grades 9–12.
Seton was founded as Mount St. Vincent Academy in 1854. It was also known as Cedar Grove. With the arrival of Elder High School's girls' department, [4] Cedar Grove was renamed in honor of Elizabeth Ann Seton on September 12, 1927. [5] [6]
In 2008, following a massive undertaking to secure funds for the construction, the school completed its new copper-domed chapel, located on land that had housed the school's football field. [9] [10] In May 2009, the school was officially renamed Seton Catholic Preparatory High School; the name was shortened to Seton Catholic Preparatory in 2014.
